How newsletters that sell sponsor ads are named
This is a count of 2,454 newsletters that ran at least one paid sponsor placement in the issues Book a Sponsor has read, with the name each one uses. Read it as a description of how sponsored newsletters are named. The data says nothing about whether a name brings sponsors, and a pattern that is rare here can still work.

How the names are made
Each idea combines your topic with a word the data supports. An ending or a start is offered only when at least six of the 2,454 names use it: Weekly (47), Daily (26), Insider (25), Report (25), Club (19), Brief (14), Scoop (14), Journal (11), Pulse (10), Times (10), Insights (10), Digest (9), Roundup (8), Collective (8), Wire (6), Letter (6), Review (6), Dispatch (6). The count under each name is the number of names in the data that follow that pattern. Names are checked by comparing them with the 2,454, ignoring capital letters, spaces, punctuation and a leading "The", so "The Weekly Brief" and "Weekly Brief" count as the same name.
Questions
How do I name a newsletter?
Pick the topic in two or three plain words, add the word readers will recognise as a newsletter ("Weekly", "Brief", "Report"), and check that the name is free. Of the 2,454 newsletters we have seen carry paid sponsor ads, 74.9% have two or three words. This generator builds names from those patterns and checks each one against the same 2,454.
How long should a newsletter name be?
The middle newsletter in our data has 3 words and 16 characters. 210 of 2,454 (8.6%) are one word, 971 (39.6%) are two, 866 (35.3%) are three and 407 (16.6%) are four or more.
Should a newsletter name start with "The"?
460 of the 2,454 names (18.7%) start with "The". Most do not, so leaving it off is the usual choice and keeps the name shorter. Use the style menu to see only the names that start with it.
Should the name include the word "newsletter"?
147 of the 2,454 names (6.0%) end in "Newsletter". Many of those are an organization's or a person's name with the word added. The word tells readers nothing new; "Weekly" or "Daily" tells them how often it arrives and "Brief" or "Report" tells them what it contains.
Does the check cover domains and trademarks?
No. It checks the name against the 2,454 newsletters in our data, so a name marked free can still be taken somewhere else. Before you commit, search the name, look for the domain and the social handles, and search the trademark database for your country.
Does a name make a newsletter easier to sponsor?
We have not measured that, so this page does not claim it. The data describes how newsletters that already sell sponsor ads are named. What brands pay depends mostly on list size; see what newsletters charge by list size.
